Topic > Do video games influence children's behavior? - 1580

Nowadays many fun things are easily accessible for children. You don't have to be an adult to own an iPad or a latest generation mobile phone. Most of these latest gadgets are aimed at helping children spend their free time and 'educate'. Video games as one of the entertainment tools have become very common and famous toys for children of the 21st century. They can be used anywhere and anytime without limitations. Interestingly, such gadgets have been found to play a central role in children's entertainment lives, as "98% of children now have a game console in their home" (StudyMode 2011, Online). Many research studies have been conducted in this area, but opinions are divided. Are video games harmful to children or do they have no impact on children's behavior? It is extremely important to answer these questions, especially for people living in countries like the UK where access to video games is easily accessible to children. Therefore, this article will critically examine the evidence in order to find the answer to the above questions. As mentioned above, video games have become a very popular form of entertainment in our advanced society. Children like to play brutal and violent video games because they are full of action and adrenaline. Due to their diversity, video games can range from simple role-playing games to extremely violent ones that may contain themes of blood and death. What is very interesting in video games is that players can customize their characters according to their tastes. They can change your character, skin tone, hair color and much more. Playing video games with a customized character causes more involvement and emotion in the game, which can later be seen in violent and aggressive behavior. It was... a piece of paper... to find out whether the effect of video games on children's aggressive behavior is visible in the long term and can influence the child in the future or not. On the other hand, children's aggressive behavior cannot be directly linked to video games because many other factors can influence this state, such as peer competition or simply the need to vent some negative emotions. There are many reasons to assume that video games are harmful to children and influence their aggressive behavior in one way or another. On the other hand, many children benefit from video games, they improve in many fields of education by playing educational games. But further exploration in this area is needed to obtain stronger evidence. However, I hope that my work can contribute to a better understanding of this topic and to looking at it from different perspectives.
