There is no doubt that communication can be applied to police work; communication is police work. By using the correct communication, a police officer can make the difference between an easy arrest and a firefight. The people officers deal with are often stressed, angry, drunk or on drugs. In these circumstances, if an officer does not have respectable communication skills and assumes an attitude, the offender will not respond well. Since communication is important in police work, it is also a great life skill in general. Along with communication, keeping myself healthy and fit will definitely make me a better cop. If I am healthy, I will have a generally better mood. It has been shown that people who exercise regularly and eat well are more likely to be in a good mood and less stressed. These are very important as a policeman because if you are in a bad mood and stressed and don't hide it well, your communication will not be great and the situation can change from decent to dangerous. Staying in shape will also increase my likelihood of catching a delinquent who is running away, or if I find myself in a situation where a delinquent tries to fight me, I am more confident. While as an officer I'm not trying to be all big, bad, and intimidating, intimidation can keep me from being a target. Criminals have stated that if a police officer does not have a clean and pleasant uniform, an assertive attitude, and if he does not look fit, he is more likely to try to hurt or be difficult with that police officer. However, if an officer looks good, has a ready and assertive attitude, and appears to take care of himself, he is less likely to become a target, regardless of his size. Communication and staying healthy are both life and career techniques that apply greatly to my career choice,
