The media is a powerful form of communication that is seen by the public on a daily basis. The media spreads its messages through television, films, newspapers, magazines, radio and the Internet. The media has the ability to show current news which can range from soap operas to pornography on television or other sources. Violence is a major concern for the media because it is becoming a serious “problem in modern society” (Beresin: 2014). Violence involves the use of force that can result in the death or injury of individuals. Violence is “the use of physical force to harm someone, damage property, etc.” (Merriam-Webster: 2014).
