Controversial Science: Global Climate Change Climate change has become a very painful topic for many scientists around the world. There are some people who believe that climate change and global warming are just mere myths for gullible people, that humans have no effect on how our environment is changing. On the other hand, 97% of newspapers that argue in favor of man-made global climate change are also said to agree that it is happening (Wayne). Many people read the evidence and can clearly see that humans are causing climate change to not only accelerate, but cause so many things in our environment to change as a result. Climate change is the change in Earth's weather patterns that causes the atmosphere to warm which became known in the 20th century. Scientists have been studying the changing Earth's climate for many years. One organization that shows research on this topic is NOAA. The NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) found that the period from 2000 to 2010 was the warmest decade ever recorded in history for the entire globe (Chiras). And other studies show that the average global surface temperature has increased by about 0.5-1.0°F (Stanford). Another surefire way to reality-check climate change is that the polar ice caps are melting, obviously due to a sudden rise in temperatures. This is great evidence in this case. Ice does not simply melt on command for no apparent reason, but must be caused by global warming and changing climate patterns. Many people spend their careers searching for evidence like this to prove to people around the world that climate change is influenced by humans and that it can be helped. Even if climate change... is half of paper... . it is by replanting trees and other plants. This will make it much easier to get rid of some of the excess CO2 in the atmosphere. There are many nations and communities that have started reforesting wildlife and many more need to take responsibility and do the same to really make a difference (Chiras). Climate change is an intense topic in the scientific community and humans are a big part of the problems we have. There are melting polar ice caps, greenhouse gases and many other problems that we could have stopped soon. We could reforest our communities and reduce fossil fuels to help improve it and try to reduce it. Although there are some skeptics on the topic, it is clear that humans represent a major part of the problems. Over time, if people accept the change and help, climate change can decrease.
