Our ancestors lived happier lives. They weren't immersed in technology like we are. They lived life as they should have, closer to their instincts. In the past, people had a healthy lifestyle, had more time to spend with family and friends, and were closer to nature. Nowadays, however, people's lifestyle has become unhealthy due to modern life. We don't do much physical activity anymore. Also, because modern humans are busy, we don't spend enough quality time with our family and friends, which makes us happy. Furthermore, we do not respect the nature that was our home. We live too fast without taking a break and enjoying life. But as Dillard suggests, we need to be more careful. By taking a look at the weasels, we can remember the true meaning of life which is to live in the moment, be happy and notice everything. Overall, the writer is trying to explain how a brief glimpse of a weasel made her think more deeply about life. And that life is not as complicated as we think and live it. Life is made up of all these beautiful and painful moments that we miss as we try to achieve a goal, to earn more, or as we relive memories of the past or daydream about the future. Because we are trapped by our greed, weasels live their lives freely following theirs
