Topic > Ethics and values in business ethics - 1295

IntroductionAccording to Adri, Cecile and Theuns (2014:93) business ethics is “a written or unwritten code of principles or values that govern decisions and actions at inside an organization. In this piece I will focus on the importance of ethics and values in business sustainability and how important business leadership is to the success of business organizations.1. The importance of ethics and values in business sustainability. The relationship between ethics and values. Unethical behavior is mainly influenced by the values of the individual. Since values lie behind all the decisions we make, it follows that they are at the very heart of the life we have made for ourselves through the decisions we have made Paul (nd:1). The choices people make can also be influenced by their beliefs and background. Employees are attracted to an organization and work as loyal employees if they can associate with the ethics, values and norms of the organization. So ethics, values and culture therefore play a vital role for all stakeholders of an organisation. Ethical Issues There are various ethical issues in the business context. One of the problems identified in South Africa is the transformation, through the elimination of the legacy of racist apartheid, into a democratic country in which people's fundamental rights are all protected. Many people have testified that South Africa is a democratic country, so now we see a black person winning a court case against a white person. And on the business side, economic growth in South Africa has strengthened significantly since the end of apartheid (vivek, 13). Some of the key issues are corruption, whistleblowing, plagiarism in business and sexual harassment. • Corruption. Corruption includes… half of the document… publicity for the organization. In the second discussion we found that leadership in business is important because it shapes the organizational context. Therefore leadership is important to the success of the company. References1.
