You must not only be able to read and listen, but you must be able to understand the meaning or context of what you receive, otherwise they are useless jumbles of words and letters. I am very happy that I was able to become literate at such a young age, which allowed me to be able to inform others of what I wanted in a much simpler and easier way. I was also able to understand what others were saying or writing, allowing me to become even more literate by learning from those things I heard or read. Being able to communicate with others is what allows our world to succeed and allows us to live normal lives. Communication is what brought our world out of the darkness and allowed us to become what we are today. Businesses could not function without forms of communication. Religions would not be able to translate their scriptures to other people, or they would not be able to expand the knowledge of their information. There could only be simple forms of entertainment, we would have no books, television programs and films, no theater shows and concerts. Literacy is being able to communicate, read and have knowledge while doing it
