Chapter 1“Wake up Addie!” I hear my mother screaming from downstairs, "No!" I yell back like any sixteen year old would, but proceed to drag myself out of bed. I go to my closet and pull out a soft, ivory knit Abercrombie tank top and a lilac maxi skirt that my grandmother made for me. It has some stains but is still wearable. I pull my hair up into a sleek, messy bun and run downstairs to get breakfast. "Mom, where are the cocoa puffs?" I scream at the top of my lungs. “Honey, they're just cocoa puffs, get something else or you'll be late for school,” he replies. So I grab a waffle, grab my backpack, and run to the bus stop. I hear the brakes of the bus squealing as it stops. The door opens and I quickly enter looking for an empty seat. I find a spot on the way back, plop down, put on headphones in an attempt to distract myself from the reality of being on a school bus headed to Jefferson High School. The bus doors creak open again and I run out of the prison-like bus. I run up the front steps and head to my locker. “Uh oh,” I think to myself as I watch Lexi Wright slowly approach me. Her hair is golden and today it is perfectly curled and flutters in the wind when she walks. Her Gucci bag highlights her outfit which today is a pair of dark washed Miss Me jeans and a shocking pink crop top. She would be perfect if it weren't for her bratty personality. “Hey, loser, where did you get your clothes, were they on sale at the thrift store?”, I cringe as Kennedy and Kaylee, her best friends, giggle at her remark. I opened my mouth to reply but nothing comes out. I hear a loud ring and run inside to get to my classroom before school starts.Chapter 2I look in my backpack for the keys to the lock. "Oh no, not today", ... middle of paper ... ....s, that's fine, I'm sure you and Ella Gates will get along," she assures me. "Wait, you mean Ella Gates's sister Brayden Gates?" I ask. "Yes, in fact, I've had several children fall into the hole recently." "Could you show me where Brayden is?" I ask. "Yes, honey, follow me." With that we immediately sit on the our chairs and we dart around the building once more. We stop in what I think is the dining room. I jump out of the chair and run to Brayden. I scream and then I pull him into a big hug. "Addie? " he asks. “It's me,” I reply.
