The Path that a person must walk to get closer to their spiritual self is different for each individual. It is a long and difficult journey that tests a person's faith and love for the higher being they are seeking. If an individual is trying to grow, he or she must admit his or her wrongdoings, whatever they may be, and overcome those flaws. In Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy, Farid Un-Din Attar's The Conference of the Birds, and Julian of Norwich's The Revelation of Divine Love, all follow the quest for spiritual growth. Dante and Julian share faith in the Roman Catholic Church, but they lived in two different times in the church, which influenced their view of the issue that individuals go through in their spiritual life. Unlike Dante and Julian, Attar followed the religion of Islam which also influenced his illustration of how to grow up.
