Promotion is very important in the marketing mix because if you don't promote your product, no one will know about the product or it will rarely be seen. Promoting in the wrong place is also a big risk. The entire marketing mix is very important as choosing the wrong marketing mix factor could have a major impact on a company, especially if it is in the startup phase. Promotion goals in marketing include many things. The main objectives of marketing are to increase sales, attract customers, inform people, create awareness, create an image, change customer attitudes and encourage brand switching. Bethan's three main goals would be to attract customers as she has just started and needs customers for her business. This helps save money. Public relations also implies that the company is publicly known to all outsiders. Bethan could use this type of promotion because she could write an article about her business that will be free and will also attract customers. This therefore means that there will be more than one advantage. Sponsorship Paying a well-known company... mid-paper... and what strategies work best for your business as these will be the ones you tend to reuse as they are the ones that attract the most customers. Another idea Bethan needs to think about when starting her business is broad-spectrum advertising. We try to attract the widest possible audience. The legal requirements that Bethan would have to meet for the promotional strategy would be the legal code of conduct. The legal code of conduct means that advertising is: • Legal • Honest • Dignified • True • Fair. These are for all advertisements that want to be advertised. To promote your business to others you will have to respect all these rules. If Bethan were to break any of these practices, she would be breaking one of the laws and could be sued. Breaking the code of conduct goes against the Trades Description Act.
