Some telenurses work in clinics and others at home. In these contexts there are chances that others will hear what is happening to the patient. Policies must be in place to control patient information and how it is disclosed. Their computer systems must also have security settings to reduce the risk of someone accessing patient information. “Privacy issues related to video or audio recording, record maintenance, storage and transmission of images and other medical record data must be fully addressed. The transmission of information via communication lines such as telephone lines, satellite lines or other channels may generate concerns related to possible violations of privacy.
