Becoming a famous musician is something that everyone seems to want, but only a few can aspire to. It's a long and complicated road, full of all kinds of obstacles, but once they're done they can look back and say, "I finally did it." Probably the best thing about being an emerging musician is the help other musicians will give. They will say it clearly and the first thing they all say is that time and dedication are the key to success. Also, you need to be prepared for the fact that it will take a long time for your music to get out there. The first thing a person might notice about the artist interview is that it is anything but formal. Interviewing artists is usually a relaxed and interesting experience to be a part of because most musicians aren't looking to be in a formal setting and are more willing to be open about their personal lives and things they've experienced. Along with the feeling of relaxation, usually everyone will say the same or similar things regarding advice, and every time you listen to it, it makes more and more sense. One thing everyone will say is that becoming a musician is not easy. It brings with it frustrations, difficulty getting recognized, and people who despise the music or say the music will never be better. I recently experienced this with two ignorant individuals, proving that people can be less than respectable. Even if some people belittle the artist's style or music, the artist will be able to succeed with dedication and practice, because constantly trying will make him or her become the artist he or she wants to be. Having the opportunity to interview an artist is definitely an experience. It's a phenomenal thing to do, it's also a terribly rare opportunity due to their conflicting work schedules, but if someone... halfway... earns the way to start and maintain a record label. It will have to be a local college like Portland Community College, because most others might charge me to take an entire course. A choir lesson might help me because I can work more on intonation and making my voice clearer to the listener, while a group singing lesson might help me work more independently on vocal techniques to engage my listener more in my music and be able to hear and understand the point I convey in an enjoyable and fulfilling experience. With an independent record label I can work on my own terms and things will be more reliable and easier because I will be able to do things myself. I would be able to manage the money the label makes and know everything that happens in the business. With all this knowledge I will be ready for success in the future of a rap musician.
