IntroductionThe review aimed to discuss the statement "It is the consultant's responsibility to facilitate the client's decision making, not to change decisions that the client would have made anyway" (Wickham and Wickham 2008 ). To do this, the review first outlines the client-consultant relationship and the responsibility and role of the consultant once hired, in light of the work of leading authors such as Appelbaum (2004), Calvert (2005) and O'Mahoney (2010) . ). Next, the review analyzes the client's decision-making processes and the counselor's role in them, with the help of authors such as Wickham and Wickham (2008), Schein (1997) and Turner (1982). It specifically outlines the differences in a consultant's Expert and Facilitator role to highlight the difference in their impact on the client's decision-making process. Finally, it examines the role of a counselor's Facilitator to facilitate client decision making with the help of supporting theories. In the following sections, the review critically examines the ethical approach to facilitate client decision making. Authors such as O'Mahoney (2010) and Czerniawska (2002) discuss the need for the counselor to be professional and ethical in facilitating the client's decision in an empirical manner. However, they also highlight the dark side of consulting in influencing decision making to the benefit of the consulting firm or individual consultant. Finally, based on the above discussion, the conclusion is drawn that the counselor as a facilitator should help the client make the appropriate decision and not actually change. the decision that the client would have made anyway for personal benefit or for the consulting firm.
