The Gas Station Angel In the early days of 2014, winter storms in Michigan were so heavy with snow and frigid air that they called them polar vortices. Schools, businesses and many roads were closed. Most stores were running out of stock and gas stations weren't receiving gas shipments. When Joe knew that there would be no break in time anytime soon, he decided to get some gas in case time continued indefinitely and there was a shortage of gas. He knew his hike was sure to be a harrowing journey. He wouldn't have had to go out if he hadn't ignored dire warnings from meteorologists. Their track record for accuracy was terrible, so Joe mostly ignored any predictions. Joe was an elementary school teacher and loved his job. He was 25 years old and single. He had had few female friends and didn't feel the overwhelming need to pair up or be alone like many of his friends had. He was waiting for "The One" and he knew he would find it. There was no rush or anxiety. Let nature take its course. He got ready and headed towards the Vortex. The first step was to shovel a path to get to the driveway where he could see his car sitting in 18 inches of snow. He began the rescue plan and within 30 minutes had freed his car from the deep but light snow. As he began shoveling from the back of the car to the street, a snowplow began coming down the small hill toward his driveway. Joe groaned as the snowblower dumped another two inches of snow at the end of the driveway. Another 20 minutes and Joe thought the snow had been cleared enough that he could get the car out of the driveway. He said a little prayer and headed back out onto the street. The plow had just passed but there was already a notice... in the middle of the paper... hael. Dream. She was back in the car with Michael. Michael was saying “Joe, you're a good man. You must prepare for your role in this apocalyptic event.” When he woke up in the morning he realized that he had had the same dream several times. He could quote Michael word for word.
