Topic > Evaluating the Use of ILPs in Addressing…

In this assignment I will further examine the progress made by three of my students who were working towards the summative phases of their assessments. Additionally, I will evaluate how the use of ILPs has been helpful in meeting individual student needs and how it has benefited students overall. Hamilton (2009) highlighted that ILPs could be used to help tutors and students identify various needs and review them from time to time. time if you want to achieve your goals. Caffarilla (1993) demonstrated that ILPs can be used to help students have a structured approach to learning, continuous improvement and self-management of learning, with the final results of improving their academic performance. The National High School Center (2010) in the United States demonstrated that ILPs could be used to encourage a personalized, student-centered approach to learning with the primary goal of fostering student engagement to ultimately improve their academic performance . Furthermore, the use of ILPs could be a powerful strategy to employ to counter students' perceptions that what they learn in college is not relevant in real-life situations. Using ILPs helps eliminate this misconception by encouraging students to connect their goals to course paths and engage in other extracurricular activities. However, to make ILPs successful they need to be carefully designed and well used. For example, a survey conducted by the Department for Education and Employment (2001) found that students were likely to choose the wrong career option or fail to complete their studies at institutions where ILPs were not frequently used to support student progress. Despite the numerous advantages, others have argued... in the middle of the paper... on the eve of the set objectives. I have learned a lot from this work and would like to highlight the following with some suggestions for ILP implementation in college as I come to a conclusion.1. There is a need to create a protocol that can help outline a time frame for developing and reviewing individual learning plans for higher education students.2. The college should provide training opportunities for higher education staff on how to design and implement ILPs. New staff may find this very difficult, especially for those who have never had the opportunity to use ILP3s. Provide sufficient resources, including support staff/mentors, and allow sufficient time for follow-up until the student completes their studies. Where possible, a follow-up system should be established, especially for students who are at high risk of not completing their studies.
