Aristotle believes that the tragic hero obtains some revelation, all the anagnorisis recognition, about human destiny, about destiny and the will of the gods. An important conceptualization is the importance of what is defined as tragedy, which in some ways can be considered an excess. The excessive arrogance demonstrated by Oedipus is an example of how this arrogance manifests itself in the actions that precipitated his downfall. According to Aristotle, one might believe that Oedipus' arrogance was the cause of his downfall. Is it his arrogance or free will that sends him on an adventure of
