In 2012, Trayvon Martin was shot and killed while walking to a family member's home from a convenience store where he had just bought candy. He was 17 years old. Trayvon's killer, George Zimmerman, admitted to police that he shot Trayvon in the chest. Zimmerman, "chief of the neighborhood watch," called the police to report a suspicious person when he saw Travyon, a young black man, leaving the store. County police told Zimmerman not to confront the man, but he confronted him despite being told not to. It ended in the worst way possible. Many facts are unknown and his death ended up creating a law in Florida that many have considered very influential
