“Would you kill someone if they gave you the power and ability to rule a country?” Macbeth was the king's general and wanted all the power he had, so he did whatever it took to get it. Shakespeare shows humanism by fate and how Macbeth regretted using humanism against evil. When it was already too late he realized that murder is bad for humanism. Shakespeare showed how Macbeth went from being a caring person who knew right and wrong to a strong leader who let his pride get the better of him. Macbeth realized that humanism with murder is evil. Shakespeare showed humanism by telling Macbeth that killing Duncan is evil and that murder is evil. "We will not go further in this matter, he has honored me lately." Shakespeare was showing how Macbeth realized that he was evil and did not want to continue with the trial. Shakespeare is saying that Macbeth knows that killing Duncan is wrong. "To know what I did, it would be better to lose consciousness completely." Macbeth would simply rather be knocked out and not know what is happening than know what he has done. He doesn't like the fact that he used humanism to kill and made him evil. At the beginning of the play Macbeth was very human and even a war hero, but soon things begin to change and he meets the witches as they tell him his prophecy about him as king. This led him to want to work harder and this led to Duncan's death. After Duncan's death Macbeth's change began to accelerate and by the end of the play his transformation is complete, his human thoughts and feelings are swept away. He went from being a good person to only focusing on fearing people because he lost his human characteristics. He allowed the evil inside people to overwhelm him and eventually he just… middle of paper… and was escorted home. Both Macduff and Malcolm were symbols of loyalty and integrity for their country and attributed the good side to humanism. Shakespeare proved that humanism is not just used for evil and that good people can bring out the good in it. Shakespeare showed us that Macbeth was a dynamic character who transformed from loyal, caring and courageous to a selfish and jealous character. Macbeth let evil take over him so he was no longer a good person because the witches manipulated him. He was demonstrating humanism because after Duncan's death he realized that he regretted using him evilly. “My hands are red like yours but I would be ashamed to wear such a white heart.” Lady Macbeth is telling Macbeth that she would not wish to have such a cold heart as him. You would let the powers get the best of you by ruling a country and turning it evil?
