A collection of individuals makes up society as a whole, which lives in an environment that it needs to preserve to survive. The individual's goal is to improve their life by being able to afford as many possessions as possible. In pursuit of profit, the most successful individuals in our society create profit-seeking structures called corporations. Companies, in addition to producing goods for individual use and generating profit for their owners, create negative effects on the environment and therefore on society. The government's job is to protect society and keep its environment healthy. If we simplify the structure of the world we live in, we could understand the motivations that drive each of these subjects and what the negative effects are on the entire society, on the path towards achieving their goal. The well-being of one should not exclude the other. Consumers are usually guided by the “more, the better” way of thinking. Attempting to satisfy this principle has led to the kind of consumer community we are today. We have become a society with an ever-increasing rate of consumption and disposal of used products. By decreasing the demand for various types of goods that are not of vital necessity, we could actually do some good for society as a whole. By reducing waste, we preserve the environment. The government's main concern should be the protection of society and the establishment of basic laws and rules that allow the market to operate freely. Government interventions in the market have proven inadequate on several occasions. The reason for this may be that government officials have not considered all the facts due to the scope or complexity of an issue, or have not accurately predicted what the impact will be... middle of paper... ....more information about the materials they use, the manufacturing process and the type of pollution they produce, than a government does. The profit at stake is what gives them the most motivation to use whatever resources are available to find the best possible solution. Other types of non-profit organizations founded by individuals, such as foundations, should exist and should be allowed to operate without the burden of taxes. Whatever the reasons why their owners founded them, they should not stand in the way of the much greater possibilities that these foundations offer when it comes to helping society in many ways. Together with government efforts to raise average living standards and corporate efforts to reduce pollution, we are on the way to preserving our planet and ensuring a more secure future for future generations..
