Homosexual relationships can be traced throughout history and in every civilization. The ancient Greeks in particular were well known for homosexuality being an integral part of everyday life. “The secret of Greek homosexuality has always been a secret only to those who neglected to investigate. The Greeks themselves were not at all shy about it” (Davidson, J. 2007). Famous authors such as Plato, Xenophon, Herodotus, and Athenaeus have all explored this topic in their writings. A modern writer, Thomas K Hubbard, has translated the major primary texts on homosexuality in ancient Greece and Rome into modern English and has assembled together a comprehensive sourcebook. Here we get a real look into the past of the daily lives of the ancient Greeks and homosexuality was not only perfectly normal, but a huge part of society. A year ago, the U.S. Supreme Court issued two rulings in favor of marriage equality. This was once considered impossible, however, the United States has had a huge change of heart in supporting gay marriage. There is even speculation that same-sex marriage will be legal throughout the United States within a few years. Currently, 17 states have legalized same-sex marriage, while it remains prohibited in 33 states. Most states that still ban gay marriage have very large Christian populations. Many Christians believe that being homosexual conflicts with the Bible and refuse to accept it. In my opinion this illustrates why it is better to separate the state from religion. We have also seen the Church try to influence government decisions in England, the Archbishop of Canterbury recently declared: "The concept of marriage as a normative place for procreation is lost. The idea of marriage as a covenant... half of paper.....doesn't decrease the amount of gay people who have come out in Taiwan Apparently, there has been a lot of progress from my parents' generation to mine. We can see that Taiwanese society is shifting towards being more tolerant and liberal. We can see that Taiwanese society is moving towards a more tolerant and liberal attitude. I would say that I have a positive attitude towards the future of gay rights in Taiwan, no matter if this bill is passed or not I think this is still a very valuable opportunity for the Taiwanese people. Indeed, humanity is complex. That's why maybe there will still be loopholes even if we change the law. However, this “civil union rights” bill is still in the draft stage. Reject this law just because people are afraid to change, then this will definitely be the biggest loss for our democratic society..
