People often find themselves in deep anguish, wishing they would never have to feel emotions again. With emotions, people can feel anger, hate, sadness, and fear, but they can also feel happiness, gratitude, and other positive emotions. Everyone will find themselves in a situation where they feel negative emotions and wish the emotions would cease to exist, however, would eliminating the emotions end up being a wise choice? Experiencing positive emotions can bring a lot of joy to a person, however, if emotions were completely demolished, joy and happiness would not exist, making life much easier. Positive emotions are also necessary, because they can instill confidence and reassure people. In other cases, negative emotions can also bring positive effects, such as giving awareness to a person. For these reasons, I don't believe that emotions should be eliminated, as they have a lot of value and importance. Negative emotions, such as fear, anger or hatred, are generally considered terrible and useless, however they have the same importance as positive emotions. For example, if a person is in a situation where he experiences great fear, he is much more aware of his surroundings. This can be useful in many cases; if you are in a dangerous place and that person is afraid, then they will be much more aware, making it easier to work efficiently. In the story of The Giver, by Lois Lowry, the people of the community live life without any negative emotions. The only reason they are able to survive this way is because they are protected from any harm and therefore have no need for negative emotions. However, if they were to be pulled from their community, they would not last without emotions. Neg...... middle of paper ...... so much to guide a person and also make him efficient. Positive emotions also tend to increase a person's confidence and reassure them, also making them efficient. In general, all types of emotions are capable of making a person work efficiently. Emotionless life would also be very simple and boring for many people. In The Giver, due to an artificial order, people live by rigid rules that enforce efficiency, rather than allowing emotions to create efficiency. Their lifestyle is also simple, due to the lack of emotions. The lives of people in The Giver are significantly different from the lifestyles of people in real life. Since they have no emotions, they would struggle to live in our society, because they would not be able to work efficiently. For all these reasons, it is important to think twice whenever you want emotions to cease to exist.
