The Casablanca Conference was called to decide what path the Allies would take. After several days of meeting, the Allies chose to invade Italy. The Italian Campaign, or sometimes better known as the "Code Name Husky", had two objectives. These objectives were simple: secure the central Mediterranean and drive the Axis powers from northwestern France and the English Channel. On July 10, 1943, after thirty-eight days of fighting, the Allies finally drove the Axis troops out of Sicily. Now they would prepare for the invasion of the mainland
