Something we associate with our religion or beliefs. Supernatural beings, which indeed can be considered something ritualistic, would fall into this category. Sacral symbolism can be applied to something quite simple and everyday, but its meaning to those who will find it important will go beyond its physical appearance. The best example I can give here is the example of the flag of the United States of America. The flag in America is the symbol of the country and is simply made of cloth, but for Americans it means much more than just cloth. It represents freedom, national pride and democracy. Belief in the US flag is extraordinary. It is considered almost sacred and is treated as such.
