Now is the time to take previous knowledge into account, combine it with new technologies, and share the information with every country, state, city, and home. I truly believe that if every individual was able to contribute to environmental problems, our world would be a safer place. For example, if every diesel truck were removed from the roads and replaced with a hybrid vehicle, the carbon dioxide released into the atmosphere would decrease. It is important to care about what is right versus what is “nice.” The habits established in our homes need to be seriously reconsidered. Using compact fluorescent light bulbs and purchasing solar panels can also contribute to the improvements our nation needs. Building smaller homes and purchasing more energy-efficient appliances such as dishwashers and televisions will provide similar results with fewer consequences. Small changes can make a huge difference. Public transportation is rarely used to address the lack of access that many families have, but in states like New York and Chicago, the majority of people rarely own a vehicle.
