The similarities I will describe are how they started small and then expanded, how both of these companies revolutionized the industry they operate in, and how the technology they introduced became a necessity. Two friends named Bill Gates and Paul Allen founded Microsoft in Albuquerque. They started with a small company and have grown into an empire employing 100,932 people (as of December 2013). Before Microsoft there was Traf-O-Data, which tracked traffic data, which was revolutionary at the time. Microsoft is now a multi-billion dollar company and is a household name. Microsoft has now expanded to sell many different and successful products. Some of their very popular products include Skype, Xbox, the Surface tablet, and Bing.
