I didn't hate English as much as I hated Hong Kong because I realized that I had to learn English if I wanted to survive in the United States. However, I was afraid to speak to people in English at first because I was afraid that others would laugh and make fun of me for my accent. I realized that if I wanted to live and study in the United States, I had to put more effort into studying the language.
