A Stormy Night - Original WritingThe sudden, rapid and violent summer storm caught me completely unaware. I was walking along Old Tree Road when the clouds began to accumulate. I looked around as I huddled under a large dead oak tree. Almost all the houses on this abandoned street were too badly damaged for me to take refuge, except one. The house loomed large and morbid in the greenish-black sky. A flash of lightning briefly illuminated the house. The windows were broken, but the superstructure appeared to be in good condition. I was getting wet as I pondered my dilemma. Whether to stay under the tree and risk being struck by lightning or to enter that old house without knowing who or what might be in there. The storm, however, decided for me. Lightning struck the tree, filling the air with the scent of burning sap. I rushed out onto the porch and knocked on the door. It was open. What was that? I thought my heart in my mouth. I turned around slowly. I didn't see anyone, but that didn't mean that...
