Global Warming, a Moral or Political Struggle “Now or Never” by Bill McKibben is a short essay by an environmentalist who attempts to educate and awaken the sleeping minds of those who ignore the degenerate land we call home. This essay emphasizes that politics is a key, on page 594 McKibben writes: “this must become a political issue – and quickly” (Barnet, 2014). Is global warming real? Are nature or humans responsible for global warming? “What is your role in politics?” When I think about the earth, it is one of the most important issues to consider for the very existence of man, but for most it is not the highest priority on the political or moral radar. The earth is one of the most sought-after locations for the most well-known and imagined life forces today, dating back to when our new leaders in Congress vowed to do everything in their power to stop it” (Environment America, n.d.). It is statements like this that make us think that political involvement could be crucial in the step towards solving the problems of global warming, at least a good start. We are aware that renewable energy is the wave for a more sustainable future and to make this happen it is necessary to involve politics, we need our government to take a stand in producing energy that does not pollute the earth causing catastrophic events such as “tsunami” that kills thousands of unsuspecting people. This article talks about what types of things our government can keep up with, such as “renewable energy through solar, wind, and energy efficiency” (Environment America, n.d.). In June 2014, the President moved forward from the “clean energy plan” according to the article “Solutions for Global Warming” (Environment America, n.d.) that we need and we must ask for future political involvement for this
