In this Gospel story there are seven main signs or miracles. They manifest the crucified divinity of Jesus. The first sign of Jesus' public ministry is the wedding at Cana. “This did Jesus, who began his signs in Cana of Galilee, and thus manifested his glory, and his disciples began to believe in him” (John 2:11). From this we understand the inevitability and prophetic character of miracles. Through the testimony of signs the disciples came to know Christ, before knowing what he would do. The signs are, in a certain sense, the initial path of mediation towards the Kingdom of Heaven. The signs revealed the divine nature of Jesus, while also showing much of his humanity
