Nowadays, obesity is highly distributed in global communities and is dangerous due to its effects on humans. Are urban spaces a solution to this problem? If it is a solution, do engineers have full responsibility or is the participation of others necessary? Furthermore, there are examples of two cities that have built urban centers to solve the obesity problem. Therefore, this essay will talk about the causes and effects of obesity in societies, the role of engineers in solving this problem, and how the two case studies mentioned tried to address the problem. Obesity is a serious problem in our societies these days. , and a huge number of people are facing it in many countries around the world, especially children (aged 9-14). It is dangerous due to the enormous risks it could cause to the human body and brain. So what is the real meaning of obesity and what are the main causes of this problem? According to (NHS, 2014) “Obesity is a term used to describe someone who is very overweight, with a lot of body fat.” It is a very common problem because among every four adults there is one obese, and even among 5 children there is one. But how would we know if we are addressing this problem? There are many ways to know whether you are overweight or not, but the most useful and common method is body mass index (BMI). The (BMI) scale is a way to measure your best healthy weight associated with your height. But what are the threats of obesity to humans? It has many risks that can affect the human body, such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and could lead to some types of cancer. However, it can affect the human brain or lead to a psychological situation, such as depression. After talking about the risks of obesity...at the heart of the paper...r is the ability to build urban spaces, and new buildings to make communities more active. But from my point of view, I think that the Engineers are partly involved in this situation and cannot make any changes without our help. Governments, families and doctors should help Engineers solve this problem by encouraging people to be more active and live healthier lives. lifestyle, for example the city of New York, which builds urban spaces for people and raises citizens' awareness of obesity and its risks to increase physical activities, despite the fact that the most important factor that can help prevent obesity whether obesity is the obese person himself, if he or she is not convinced that obesity is a big problem for him, none of this solution will change the situation, so the most important thing is to convince the obese person that the solution to this problem is in his hands.
