Integrating technology into the classroomTechnology is gradually changing our society; there is no doubt about this. If ten years ago you were told that students have the ability to have a robot as a teacher, you might laugh or suggest a new Hollywood film. Today this, along with many other advances, can be a reality. The technology has added many benefits, such as allowing students easy access to new information, offering a portable and convenient solution for textbooks, and is also known for improving grades. Integrating technology into schools is a way to keep up with society and offer students endless possibilities. However, many people believe that introducing children to technology is harmful. It can promote laziness, be extremely expensive and interfere with the student's need to interact with teachers and students. Adapting technology into the classroom requires a lot of time investment and teacher training. Electronics can often have quirks that hinder lesson planning. Overall, the use of technology in the classroom is a matter of constant debate. First, there are many who oppose integrating technology into the classroom. One of the reasons people are against it is because they believe it promotes laziness. As we know, many Americans are facing increasing health and obesity issues now more than ever. One in three American children is considered overweight (Gavin 1). Some argue that forcing our children to use technology in the classroom is a ticket to many health problems. Technology produces a completely dependent society and can often render its users defenseless.
