Topic > Evolution of Technology: A Catalyst for Progress

Since World War I, new technologies have been invented to help the country gain an advantage. During World War I, an invention was introduced that changed the entire war. This invention was the tank developed in 1914 in response to the trenches and was first used at the Battle of Flers-Courcelette in September 1916. (First tank produced) They broke the stalemates that were occurring in trench battles because they helped increase mobility. (Tanks | World War I Facts). Over the years, tanks have evolved and become more robust and mobile. They also played an important role in World War II and the Cold War. Most recently, on November 13, 2015, the tragic attacks occurred in Paris, France, which killed at least 130 people and injured many more. After that disastrous event, many different technology companies stepped forward to help people in case of future disasters. They have created ways for victims of the Paris attacks and victims of future attacks to remain safe, even during dangerous times. AirBNB, an online lodging company, has created a disaster relief tool that allows homeowners to list their home on the AirBNB website (AirBNB Disaster Response). These homes are listed where a victim can stay for free in case they have no place to stay. AirBNB has also partnered with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to help prepare hosts for emergency housing (A New Helping Hand for Our Disaster Response Program). With dangerous threats that could attack at any moment, the nation must always be ready to help anyone in need as quickly and safely as possible, and with companies making help more accessible through technology, more people will receive assistance from what they need, when they need it. New technology keeps the country safe and it keeps everyone safe too
