The stages of career developmentThe Cambridge Online dictionary defines career development as the process of learning and improving your skills so that you can do your job better and progress towards jobs best (Cambridge, 2011) . However, my career development articles have a slightly different take. My article states that career development occurs in stages and has influential factors (Gohdes, 1997-2000). Therefore, I will discuss these elements along with their main points. Next, I will provide a brief autobiography on how these steps apply to me. Before I do that, I will present my article. The name of my article is Theories of Career Development. It was a subtitle in Career Development: Issues of Gender, Race, and Class. This article discusses career development theories according to Ginzberg, Ginsburg, Axelrad, and Herma, which I will refer to as GGAH for brevity. They believed that four factors influence career choices, and the GGAH theory also believes that pre-established phases are followed (Gohdes, 1997-2000). These influences and the combination of stages together constitute the development of an individual career. If this is true, finding out more about these influences and phases could be helpful. Therefore, in the next paragraph I will talk about the four GGAH factors and phases. The four factors mentioned by GGAH are reality, influence in the educational process, emotional factor and individual values. All of the above is self-explanatory, but the steps may need some clarification. The phases according to GGAH are fantastic, temporary and realistic. In the fantasy stage, which occurs during childhood, a child can pretend to have any job he wants without restrictions. So his favorite activities might be... middle of paper... but I inherited my father's determination. So far we have examined career development according to the theory of Ginzberg, Ginsburg, Axelrad and Herma (Gohdes, 1997-2000). We also see how factors and stages are elements of career development. I then talked a little about my past, present, and future career plans and how some of the GGAH theories played a role in my decisions. As I continue my journey to find the experiences I need to teach, I am taking purposeful and realistic steps toward my future. I am making progress towards developing my career.
