Topic > My desire to study architecture - 763

As I walk among the skyscrapers of Hong Kong, I am always amazed by the city's unique structures and creative spaces. The mere fact of imagining interacting with space and culture to design a work of art to be set among these great masterpieces excites me. These innovations are what really drive me to want a deeper understanding of the field and inspire me to learn more about the intricacies of architecture. Advanced mathematics, physics, art and design are the subjects that I find most fascinating. Through mechanical studies in Physics and thematic experimentations in Fine Arts, I have strengthened my intellectual and visual communication skills immensely. Last year, while working on a course on darkness and conformity in crowds, I was exposed to new design methods, such as observing crowds and people's social behaviors and applying raw expressions and emotions to strengthen the design of my drafts and, finally, the final piece. Furthermore, I have improved my analytical skills by writing formal analyzes of artworks in which I interpret many elements such as culture and history and address them to the theme of the artwork. Architects also use these methods in their design process to create extraordinary projects and buildings. By studying advanced mathematics, I developed problem solving skills and became adept at tackling mechanical problems that are crucial to architectural engineering, where computational factors such as the force needed to support a structure are part of everyday practice. Last summer I took a course called "Career Discovery in Architecture" in Hong Kong because I wanted to broaden my perspective in this field. Through workshops and lectures led by professors, I have… half the work… to learn more about visual representation techniques and, more importantly, how to convey my ideas through visual media. Through this, I have developed the habit of keeping visual diaries to record some of my ideas, which helps stimulate creativity. Besides that, I like to listen to music and swim regularly to relieve stress. I am a dedicated, self-motivated and conscientious person. I firmly believe that choosing architecture as a field of study will fulfill my commitment to improving local environments and helping people within the community. As I look to the future, I am excited to begin an educational journey that will further enhance my understanding of architecture and build on my foundation to realize my full potential. One day I would like to design structures that can inspire someone else, like the buildings in Hong Kong have inspired me.
