Sheet metal forming has been around for thousands of years. Originally the metal was manipulated by hand and hammered into the depression, using rough grooves carved into the wood or stone. This technique was used to make spouts, handles and other shapes. Since then, however; have undergone a notable technological evolution. Coupling-female conformable molds to create hollow shapes using hydraulic pressure or hammer pressure have changed mold forming forever (Paisin, 2013). This new shape was called hydraulic forming. Plumbing comes from the Greek word hydro meaning water and aulos meaning pipe (McCreight, 2004). In today's society, hydraulic pressing and die making are used for everything from making small pots and pans to the most extravagant designs of automotive bodies. Another use that has developed recently is the more artistic one, producing silver and gold shapes.
