Children should be subjected to the punishments our justice system is giving them. Children who show a lot of enmity should be tried as adults. It's the only way to protect innocent children. These kids know right from wrong, but they choose to do the wrong things and violence is wrong. As discipline laws have become stricter, boys have become wilder. When we let society tell us how to discipline our children, the result is violent children. Shawn was 16 in 1998 when he violently stabbed his father in his sleep, was tried as a juvenile due to his pre-existing parasomnia, and was sentenced to reform school until his 19th birthday. Jose, 15 years old in 1998, involved in a fatal fight with four other teenagers, tried as a minor and sentenced to 208 days in juvenile detention. Marquese, 17, considered a “frequent flyer” of the juvenile system, a repeat offender on parole for car theft and trespassing, was tried as a juvenile and released on parole in 2001. Manny, 17 in 1999 assaulted a family in his neighborhood with a baseball bat along with two other gang members. One of the victims was six months pregnant. He was tried as an adult and sentenced to nine years in prison. Jordan Brown, now 12, is currently awaiting trial for the murder of his father's pregnant girlfriend, where he will be tried as an adult for both the murder of the woman and the fetus. What were the factors that decided Manny and Jordan's case would be tried as adults? Manny and Jordan's case ended up in adult court, while other children and teenagers are tried and sentenced in the juvenile system. Judicial systems have criteria for trying children as adults, taking into account various factors related to the crimes themselves. How exactly could the… middle of the card… in some cases, for the rest of their lives, be the answer to showing children that this is not a game. We need to take back control of our streets. Times have changed, now we change with them. Works Cited Jordan Brown. 05 03 2009. 12 05 2010 .Juvenile justice. and May 26, 2010. Sharon Cohen.
