In today's society, people's schedules tend to be extremely hectic due to strenuous work schedules or having to keep up with school and families. For this reason, many people don't get the recommended eight hours of sleep. In addition to not getting enough sleep, they don't eat the right foods to nourish their bodies. In return, they have a substantial lack of energy. Usually people who don't take care of themselves tend to feel more tired in the middle of the day and throughout the day. A simple solution would be to go to bed earlier and eat better foods. However, our society has become very lazy, obese, and over the years, started taking the easy way out. Instead of eating better and trying to sleep more, people drink energy drinks as a quick and easy way to get a boost of energy. Energy drinks have been around since the 1960s and have become increasingly popular. Today, there are hundreds of different brands of energy drinks sold in grocery stores and gas stations, and worse yet, billions of them are consumed every year. Even though more energy drinks are consumed every year, many people are unaware of this; what is an energy drink, what are the benefits and non-benefits, what different types of energy drinks exist, and how mixing them with alcohol can be seriously dangerous. “The term energy drink refers to a drink that contains caffeine in a combination with other ingredients such as taurine, guarana and B vitamins, and which Fowler 2 claims to provide those who consume it with extra energy” (ucan.org). Energy drinks are all made different by the flavoring ingredients chosen by the company that produces them, but there are five main ingredients which are typically four... in the middle of the paper... In summary energy drinks can be good for a quick boost of energy. And over the years they have become increasingly popular. Many people should become more aware of the advantages and disadvantages of consuming energy drinks. They should never drink one before strenuous exercise or drink numerous quantities at a time Energy drinks should never be mixed with alcohol due to the dangerous side effects that can occur. Energy drinks affect all people differently, but consumers should be more aware before drinking these products.
