The biggest challenge I face is open-ended questions. In theory, they are easy. However, when I am in the present moment, I unconsciously resort to closed-ended questions. Even when I feel like they're open, when I look back it's obvious that they're not. I was fortunate that those I spoke to elaborated further without needing further prompting. Although I'm not naive enough to believe that future customers will do the same. Another of my weaknesses includes expressing empathy. I'm great when it comes to empathizing with others, but I struggle to express it out loud. I have to stop myself from continuing the conversation and acknowledging my client's feelings. I don't know why this is a struggle for me. It's not hard to do, I just forget to do it. Another challenge I will face will be cultural competence. Since I hadn't dealt with people significantly different from me until I got to college, I find myself lacking in understanding. This is something I can work on with time and experience.
