Topic > Private schools vs. public schools - 1065

Have you ever attended a private institution? How was your experience? Think back and compare it to your ideal public school, which one pales in comparison? Public schools, which are controlled by the government and heavily influenced by politicians and privateers, harm your children by not allowing them to reap the full benefits of their growing minds. “Our schools were scientifically designed to prevent overeducation from occurring. The average American [should] be content with his humble role in life, because he is not tempted to think of any other role.” (William T. Harris, U.S. Commissioner of Education 1889-1906) Why leave tomorrow's future leaders in a place like this, when there is a better alternative, even if the costly benefits may outweigh this expense. As the years have passed, Americans have progressively paid more attention to the educational process, striving ever harder to get the best education possible for their children. More and more parents are moving away from traditional public school systems and towards private schools. This happens for numerous reasons. One reason for the increase in enrollment at private institutions is that students who graduate from private high schools tend to be better prepared for college work. Secondly, private schools open up a great deal of additional opportunities to succeed in today's society. Finally, private schools allow parents to decide which school they believe will give their children the best education possible. In general, private schools offer a highly respected and higher level of education for high school students than public schools. However, there are many advantages and disadvantages of both types of institutions....... middle of paper...... preventing them from acquiring those academic skills needed to achieve success.
