Topic > Robert Merton's Theory of Deviance in Society - 1662

Talks about social instability defined by a society of haves and have-nots. Also, talk about some people who have set goals for success and created the means through hard work and education. He goes on to describe the poor as those who have blocked access to their ends. However, it fails to identify those who block their path or those who provide the means to the wealthy. It's all about hard work and perception. Rebels are driven by choice and the same goes for conformists. If I decided to go back to the streets and start begging as a means of livelihood, proponents of this theory would label me an innovator. This aspect means that I agree on the common goals of the company, but I am not willing to work or use legitimate methods to achieve them
