Assessment of a moduleIn essay writing you are taught to write an introduction, a beginning, a middle and an end around a topic, within which you write from two or multiple points of view, generally, for and against, interpreting information in your own words and applying it to scenarios and expanding what we already know. In order to do this it is necessary to use texts written by others as well as our knowledge to be able to express our opinion on issues relating to the topic in question. The above is my interpretation of what an essay is and how I would go about writing it in response to a given title. Looking at the title; “What is the value of this module for me as a Critical Business Management student?” initially I found it very difficult to find an answer or some ideas on what to write. The essay itself was set in the second week, at which point I thought how could this module be of value to me since I don't know what it's about. From the title of the module "Approach to the research project and thesis" I assumed that it would help us develop ideas for planning and implementing our thesis research project. Initially I didn't see how the lessons helped as they seemed to deviate so much from the initial topic, that in my opinion what was being talked about was no longer relevant. My opinion has now changed, although I find the lectures very difficult to accept and understand, after listening to what is said, my understanding of the lecture tends to come in a subconscious reflection when I read something else. I will instinctively apply what was said or discussed in class to another essay title or reading passage. While this is perhaps something I have always done, I am now aware of it. For me the greatest value of this module was the emphasis on understanding what your essay question, the title, is asking you and
