American Red CrossTo believe in the American Red Cross, it takes more than will, it takes history and facts: the blood donation service of the American Red Cross began during the Second World War, when they collected for use by the armed forces. The first national civilian blood program was introduced by the Red Cross after the war (The American Red Cross, 2012): today, the American Red Cross Biomedical Service is the largest supplier of blood and blood products in the United States, collecting and processing over 40% of the blood supply and distributing it to approximately 3,000 hospitals and blood centers nationwide (American Red Cross, 2012). Each year, the Red Cross collects 6.5 million units of blood from approximately 4 million donors nationwide, distributing more than 9 million blood products for transfusions (The American Red Cross, 2012). Yet today blood donations are not only used for soldiers at war or for victims of road accidents, today blood donations are also used for cancer patients and sickle cell anemia patients: every two seconds someone in the United States United States needs blood, more than 38,000 blood donations are needed every day, more than 1 million people are diagnosed with cancer every year, more than 80,000 people in the United States have sickle cell disease, and a single accident victim traffic can require up to 100 pints of blood (The American Red Cross, 2012). As the previous ad asks, what if this year or every 56 days someone donated a pint of blood by next year would that same person have saved 1,000 lives? Give the gift of a pint and three lives will be safe, explore how the American Red Cross is able to use Logos, Ethos and Pathos to connect with potential donors and how effective their advertisement is... middle of paper.... . .s I concluded that the American Red Cross and the BBDO, represented the need for blood donation: they gave a full understanding of the importance that donation can have on three lives.
