Topic > Denying Global Warming - 1272

Brian Sussman and Mark Hendrickson both deny that global warming is due to humans polluting the earth with emissions and other waste products. Both agree that the climate around the world is changing, but both say it is a natural event. Mark Hendrickson and Brian Sussman have both made excellent arguments against man-made global warming, but I'm still a little unsure which side of the fence I'm on. Building on Mark Hendrickson's argument, he recognizes that the climate is changing. He wrote in his article “Climate Change-Hoax or Crime of the Century” that the Earth emerged from a little ice age not long ago, and it would be worrisome if the climate around the globe was not warming. The science and data recorded to support this argument agree with this argument. He also said it is beneficial, as humans thrive in warmer climates. Mark also writes that recently recorded temperatures may be incorrect. He says that due to the urban heat island effect, temperature sensors found near asphalt parking lots are not accurate. This may be true, but are scientists who analyze and report global warming data just emphasizing the urban heat island effect? Or are they averaging around the world? The most accurate temperature measurements come from satellites. A satellite image shows that the urban heat effect has no significant influence on global temperature trends. NASA/GISS data showed that the largest change in global temperature from 1885 to 2006 occurred in Russia, Alaska, northern Canada and Greenland, where no major urban growth occurred. Mark also states that the Earth is not warming dangerously and that no one actually k...... middle of paper ......isn't affecting the global atmosphere. Scientists are able to measure this and have found a correlation between higher levels of CO2 and higher temperatures. I truly believe global warming is happening. The data I have seen suggests that there is a natural cause to global warming. There is also data I have seen that supports the human cause of global warming as well. The amount of CO2 and other greenhouse gases that humans put into the atmosphere and our oceans is unnatural. The balance is thrown out of balance due to our use of fossil fuels and deforestation. It makes no sense to me that people would defend fossil fuels and delay new green alternatives, knowing that they will run out in the future. Hendrickson and Sussman both appear to have cherry-picked the facts they presented, making global warming seem like a hoax, but I don't buy their arguments.
