Topic > Walt Disney The Father of Animation - 1125

One of the main ideas that Disney dreamed of was to have his own amusement park. “The construction of Disneyland in 1955 was a dream come true for Disney…he succeeded in creating a fantasy world for both adults and children” (The State Historical 6). All Disney wanted was to give everyone who watched its cartoons the chance to meet the characters in real life, so that their dreams could come true too. For Walt Disney, Disneyland was a place where his characters could come to life and children could meet their favorite characters and have fun. Disney designed Disneyland after Marceline, Missouri. “Disney based his 'Main Street, USA' on the streets of a small American town, specifically the buildings in downtown Marceline, Missouri” (The State Historical 6). Marceline was his favorite place, it's where he grew up and started drawing. Basing his theme park outside of his hometown made it feel more like a small town, unlike regular big city theme parks. Disneyland was like a second home for Disney as it was all based around his favorite place in the world, Marceline, Missouri. Disneyland started small but soon after the grand opening it became a global tourist destination. Disneyland was such a huge success that he wanted to do another one on the other side of the country, but ended up dying before he could finish it; So, his brother finished it for him and named it Walt Disney
