Animals must be protected Animals are similar to humans in many ways. We consider them our best friends, brothers, children, or to put it simply, we consider them part of our family. For example, my parents have a Pekingese puppy, who I identify and treat like my little brother. I could never imagine what I would do if something happened to him. For these reasons I strongly believe in animal rights and in the need to guarantee them full protection from violence and danger. Those who share this concern can in fact find useful information on the internet that addresses the issues of abuse, abandonment and exploitation of animals. Some of these sources of information are organizations that include, but are not limited to, the American Humane Organization (AHO) and the National Animal Interest Alliance (NAIA). These animal welfare groups serve our communities in a variety of ways, which I will discuss. The American Humane Organization functions as a network of groups and organizations to promote animal rights and the prevention of animal cruelty. They are also the only organization working to prevent the abuse, neglect and exploitation of not only animals, but also children. The nonprofit organization was first discovered in 1877 and was made up of 27 humanitarian organizations from 10 different states to address child and animal welfare issues. AHO is headquartered in Denver, Colorado, with regional offices located in Washington DC and Los Angeles. AHO is an activist group whose main purpose of existence is to establish engagement with animal activists to create a safe environment for the well-being of both. children and animals.
