I feel that to become a better leader I need to grow more in organizational processes. I find I have strong communication skills, these go hand in hand with the medical background I have. I can express my point of view effectively, however my style is sometimes perceived as cold and indifferent. I feel that learning to communicate better with all personality types would benefit my leadership growth. The decision-making process discussed by Ivancevich, Konopaske, and Matteson, in the first chapter of Organizational Behavior and Management (2014), is another area that I believe requires attention in my growth to become an effective leader. Ivancevich et. al. (2014) describes the need for quality decision making as the need to select appropriate objectives and identify the means to achieve them. In my current career I am not forced to make high level decisions that will affect more than myself. I am part of a group that suggests ideas and workflows that are ultimately decided by the supervisors. I'm still at a stage where I worry about the effects that decisions have on the employee and I don't fit in with the company's needs. Understanding the big picture and the knowledge to make decisions efficiently, in my opinion, is a skill that needs to be learned. Ivancevich et al.
