Each of us has our own favorite type of music. Many different aspects contribute to the type we choose. Researchers believe that personality, how we see ourselves, our level of intelligence, our mood and level of self-esteem have been shown to influence our taste in music. They also found that not only does our personality influence our music choices, but music can also influence our behaviors. Classical music has previously been shown to aid fetal development and be calming. Then, on the other end of the spectrum, heavy metal is often considered in relation to music's effect on violence in adolescents. Heavy metal has many branches such as death metal and scream music. Most of the songs produced by these genres have harsh lyrics and melodies. But this doesn't necessarily mean that metal music is to be despised. Whether it will have positive or negative effects depends on who listens. Music lyrics are a concern for many parents today. I spoke to a parent of a child who listens to metal music and she said, “The lyrics of the music she listens to disgust me, but I know it's her choice to listen to whatever type she wants. It just scares me that this music will get into her head and affect her in a negative way. "(anonymous) You would think that if a parent didn't approve of something their child was doing, then they would put a stop to it, but that's the case. It turns out that most parents don't.
