“VIRES Virtual Test Drive” (VTD) is a tool chain and modular framework for providing virtual environments in engineering simulations for the automotive and rail industries. Virtual Test Drive (VTD) provides a combination of core task and data control, traffic and scenario simulation, image generator and sensor simulation. It is one of the most complete tools for the development, testing and verification of driver assistance systems, autonomous driving systems and active safety systems. VTD has built-in tools for road generation, traffic simulation, scenario generation, sound simulation, image generation and simulation control. It uses standard file formats established for the above purpose. A so-called file finder is used to locate data by searching for it from the specific level (project) to the general level (deployment). 2.3.2 Deployments A deployment contains basic configuration and simulation data (e.g. visual databases) applicable to all types of configurations and projects (see below). The data is organized by VIRES when packaging the release. No user data will be placed in the Distros directory. The applicable distribution is symbolically linked to Current in the Data/Distros directory. This link can be changed by calling the selectDistro.sh script in the same directory. 2.3.3 Setups “Setups” represent different environments in which VTD should run. With the introduction of setups, a stronger concept of separation of platforms from project data was created.
