Topic > Analysis of the main message in the story Who Moved My Cheese

“Who Moved My Cheese?” is a business bestseller by Dr. Spencer Johnson published in 1998. The story represents the different circumstances that individuals look at throughout their everyday lives and the attitudes they display as they face those moments. As indicated in the book, these attitudes are what define us and demonstrate our true identity. It doesn't matter what happens in our life and what we try to show to others but how we face and defeat difficulties. Say no to plagiarism. They lived in a labyrinth which symbolizes someone's environment and are looking for cheese, which symbolizes someone's success and happiness. For the characters, the most significant thing is cheese and that's what they live for. However, in our situation, we live for success and to achieve each of the goals we set in everyday life. Everyone acts differently to achieve their goals and also overcome challenges differently. In the end, similarly to the characters, when we achieve what we initially set out and desired we feel that we are finished, that we are done and that we don't need to try more to be happy. But, unfortunately, we easily connect to things and if they are no longer there for some reason we are not prepared for those changes. On the other hand, "Sniff" and "Scurry" are not the same as us as they are set for changes. Their strategy was experimentation to get what they wanted, cheese. They constantly went to Station C to reconsider the place. The two of them plan their day around cheese and their daily cheese intake was adequate, they didn't eat all the cheese once they saw it. From then on, one day they went to the station and realized that there were no more cheeses so they thought about finding another one. They are prepared for this situation and surely the change was not a big problem for them, they just wait for it and look for an answer. Mice speak to two types of individuals. Sniff speaks to the type of individuals who are ready for changes and are not stunned when something happens in their life. In contrast, Scurry speaks to people in general that they have a reliable solution and that it makes no difference in what changes their life, people like these take action and solve the problem immediately. These characters are a good way to understand how to overcome difficulties and changes in everyday life. Additionally, there are two additional characters mentioned earlier, who are different from the mice. To begin with, Hem, who does not prefer to grant transformations, is afraid of any changes that may occur. Then there's Haw, who can handle change. He realizes that changes are not the end of life and that with patience and commitment it is possible to find another solution or way to progress. These characters are a little more human, the way I would see them. While it's fine to be like mice and accept changes quickly, without connecting to things and looking for agreements, it's difficult to do so. But the four characters made us discover that changes are normal and that we must wait for them and conquer them. If we are afraid of these challenges, we will likely be overstocked and fail to achieve any goals we set for ourselves. We should escape our usual scope of familiarity and act differently to get what we need. Everyone has had moments, 11(2), 131-137.
