The Wadsworth art museums were founded in 1840 by Daniel Wadsworth. He was among the first American patrons. The museum had nearly 55,000 works of art. It featured Greek, European and Roman decorative arts. Initially, Daniel Wadsworth had the idea of establishing it as an art gallery, but later became convinced of creating a University. The Wadsworth Building is made up of five connected buildings. Chief among these was the Gothic Revival Wadsworth Building of 1844 (Liscombe et al,73). This building was designed by the famous architects Ithiel Town and Jackson Alexander Davies. Initially, it was the main art house and gallery of the Connecticut Historical Society. After a while, the youth institution became a public library known as Hartford; the natural history society was later added to the building in 1860. By 1964 all institutions that were not affiliated with the museum moved to other Hartford locations. Initially Daniel Wadsworth's intention was to dedicate the structure in a modern style. When the facility opened to the public in 1969, it was dedicated to fine arts and Daniel Wadsworth's intention was fulfilled. Since its opening, the museum has opened many avenues for other museums in the United States. It was the oldest art museum and has continued to serve the public, especially those with an interest in the skills. According to recent research, the foundation was the first in history to purchase the works of Caravaggio, Joseph Miro and Frederic Church. During its development, it hosted the works of Italian masters called Picasso and surrealists. Thanks to Daniel Wadsworth's great commitment to the development of the museum, the collections have grown to provide approximately 50,000 works of art from an initial 5,000. Some of these artworks from different parts of the country include European Impressionist paintings, the unsurpassed collection of the Hudson River School among others. Others are African American arts and some artifacts. This museum underwent a series of renovations from 2010 to 2014. $33 million was invested in the museum facilities renovation project to improve the visitor experience. The museum's grand opening took place on September 19, marking a peculiar moment in the history of the 173 museums. A conservation department was established to deal with the treatment of works of art in the homes of the Wadsworth Atheneum. Currently, the materials used in the building have changed suddenly. More modern and sophisticated specifications have been introduced in the museum. The conservation team's responsibilities include monitoring, conservation and public awareness, among others. (Macchi and Giorgio,8). A new cathedral was instead built by Giangaleazzo Visconti to replace the previous one existing on the site. The construction of this cathedral began in 1386. However, obstacles were encountered during the construction. For example, funds were not adequate to sponsor the construction of the building. In 1402 the structure was halfway. One of the leaders, called Napoleon Bonaparte, volunteered to sponsor the construction of the cathedral. Roofs were built and flying buttresses were placed. In 1943 there were bombings in the city and the church was damaged. In 1943, new windows were built to replace the older ones. In its exterior design the cathedral had Gothic rooflines famous for the high density of the pinnacles. The temple included over 90gargoyles with around 3000 statues. The cathedral was of larger proportions thanks to its double naves. The cathedral has two side naves on each side. This stone building was built in recent times but rebuilt into an idealized Gothic structure. There is only one part of this building that stands out from the others has the look of modernism that would separate them to the naked eye so quickly. I believe the towers, which separate from the original rectangular shape and point towards the sky, are what makes this building gothic. In addition to this there are also the windows, which have the old medieval design, but with no peak at the top instead they are square as this is a resurrected idea of a Gothic style building (Roth et al,78) Gothic structures were an architectural style prominent in Europe during the late Middle Ages. Gothic first appeared at the end of the Renaissance period. However, when you take a look at Wadsworth, you will realize that it is made of medieval style stone. The stone used in the construction was rebuilt in the 15th century period. The internal design of the stone used to build this block looks nothing like the outside in the sense of being built in a medieval building. For example, there are no columns inside that support the building making sure it stabilizes that way. If there are columns, it is for show and has nothing to do with the structure of the building. I can also connect the stone it's made of to the fact that it was built to last or at least look the part. This aspect gives it the age and class that separates it from the rest of the surrounding buildings while drawing attention to itself and its artifacts within. On the internal beams there are six thin windows that have a rectangular appearance. This is reminiscent of the archers' holes in the walls of the past so they could shoot while protecting their land giving it an authentic Gothic feel. The only window in the entire building that completely resembles the most common style of Gothic windows would be the central window above the door in both shape and design. Below that the entrance with gold trim also has the rounded tip at the top which imitates the window in the center of the building relating to the doors of a church or an ancient chapel. Then there are the building's rigid roofs all around which give it a model of open space in the sky. In the 19th century, things were changing at that time for what people thought was their future and for the better. New technologies left some in awe while others were afraid to move forward during the transition to romance. It was about rusticity, sentimentality, reverence and mystery to people before all the technology came into play. Something else that caught my attention was that the Romantic era is marginalized from reason and intellect than art and is more about the emotional nature and a shared understanding of God and religion. He went back in time to a different, simpler and more socially graceful perspective. All of these things can relate to the stature and atmosphere of the Wadsworth Museum, and the Gothic became Gothic as an age of chivalry and piety. The Milan Cathedral, the most significant cathedral in the world, has pearly white material. It is truly a sacred and clean place where you can feel enlightened by its vast spiritual presence, there are more than I can count, capitals and basses up to the pinnacles, while a series of Gothic architecture are placed in a building that is overbearing and bloody medieval essence. On the main square of Milan in Europe, the differences between the 1386 and 1864 reconstructions although they may look similar and remind you of all the glory of Gothic in the past, the Wadsworth was more simplistic and..
